MCP server for AI agents

Written by the CustomerSaid team · Updated Oct 14, 2026 · 3 min read

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, lets AI assistants connect to tools and data. With the CustomerSaid MCP server, an agent such as Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor can search your opportunities, signals, companies and decisions while you work, always read-only.

It is off by default in every workspace.

Turn it on

Who can do this: people with the integrations permission (Owner and Admin).

Open Settings › AI agents (MCP) and switch it on. Turning it off pauses all connections and keeps existing grants.

Connect an agent

Who can do this: people with the MCP connect permission. Owners, Admins and Members have it by default, Viewers do not.

  1. Add the server to your agent. The address is your app's address followed by /api/mcp, shown in settings. For example, in Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http customersaid YOUR_SERVER_URL. In Cursor, add it under MCP settings.
  2. Your agent opens a consent page in the browser. Sign in if asked.
  3. Pick the workspace and allow access.

Sign-in uses OAuth. You never paste a password or key into the agent.

What agents can do

Agents get read-only tools: search and fetch opportunities, see their evidence, search signals, companies, contacts and solutions, list decisions, list top opportunities and search product knowledge.

What agents cannot do

  • Write or change anything.
  • See what you cannot see. Access mirrors your role in the web app. Without access to feedback, the signal, company and contact tools are not available. Revenue appears only if you can see it.
  • Use AI credits. These tools run keyword search, so there is no model cost.

Safety

Customer text is wrapped in markers so an agent treats it as data, not instructions. Tokens are short-lived and stored only as hashes. Access tokens last an hour, and refresh tokens rotate. If a used token is replayed, the whole connection is revoked. Each connection is rate limited.

Manage connections

Admins can see and revoke everyone's connections in the MCP settings. You can see and revoke your own agents under Account › Connected AI agents. Removing a member or taking away their MCP permission cuts off their agents automatically.

Tips

  • Connect with your own account so the agent sees only what you may see.
  • Revoke agents you no longer use.

Troubleshooting

The agent says unauthorized. MCP may be off for the workspace, or your role lacks the permission.

I do not see a workspace in the consent page. MCP is off there, or you lack the MCP connect permission.
