Browser extension and quick capture

Feedback often lives somewhere you cannot forward from: a community forum, a social post, a doc, a chat tool. Quick capture lets you select text where it is and send it straight to your workspace.

CustomerSaid offers a browser extension and a macOS menu-bar app. Both pair with your workspace and send into the same inbox.

Who can do this: anyone who can capture feedback. Pairing a device needs that permission.

Browser extension

It works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc and Firefox. Safari is not supported.

1. Open Account › Apps and choose the browser extension. Install it from your browser's store.
2. Open the extension and confirm the server address. Hosted workspaces use the CustomerSaid default.
3. Choose Connect in browser. A page opens asking you to approve the pairing for one workspace.
4. Approve it. The extension is now connected.

To capture, select text on a page, then right-click and choose Send to CustomerSaid, or press the keyboard shortcut (Alt-Shift-K by default; change it in your browser's extension shortcut settings). You can also click the toolbar button.

The popup fills in the quote, the page address and the page title. Pick the company, contact and source, then send. With no selection, you can type the feedback yourself. If the server is unreachable, your text is kept and you can retry.

The extension reads the selected text only when you ask it to. It does not run on other pages.

Mac app

The Mac app captures selected text from other applications. Install it from Account › Apps, then pair it the same way. macOS asks you to grant Accessibility permission so the app can see your selection.

Manage and revoke devices

Admins can see paired devices, labeled Browser extension or Mac app, in Settings › Integrations, and revoke any of them. Removing a member or changing their role also cuts their devices off, because access is checked on every request.

Troubleshooting

The pairing page says the code was used. Pairing codes last ten minutes and work once. Start again from the extension.

Captures are rejected. Your role may no longer allow capturing, or the device was revoked. Pair again.

Nothing is selected. Select text first, or type the feedback in the popup.
